  1. I've only seen limited stuff from Claus, but I understand he has some good stuff. He's on my to-do. 😉 What I have seen, he's a great resource.
  2. Stephen talks about Gary Chester's book The New Breed. I've read the beginning of it and started working on some of the lessons. His ideas on splitting the kit are helpful for me. It takes some getting used to, but I like the way it's coming together.
  3. Scorpions - Blackout, Virgin Killer, Animal Magnetism,
  4. Ok, when you say Rock, which Rock do you mean? Just Rock N Roll, Heavy Rock, Punk Rock, Classic Rock, or any other number of genres? Some that pop into my mind right now are Krokus - Headhunter, Corrosion of Conformity - Deliverance, Wiseblood, America's Volume Dealer, & In The Arms Of God, Judas Priest - Point Of Entry... and I'm sure with time I could go on and on.
  5. Band - Twenty One Pilots or twenty one pilots Last night, my daughter and I went to see the twenty one pilots show here in Houston and I have to say, what a show it was. I was never really into their music although I liked a few of them. I have been curious about Josh Dun though, since what I've seen online about him seems pretty cool. I will tell you, this guy can make a 3 piece sing. And he can get so many voices out of a small kit. Mind you, he does have a second snare and a couple pads, but when he's on that small 3 piece he knows how to get all the voices out of it. I will certainly be digging into him more.
  6. There's only one person out of seven and a half billion that think I will fail.

  7. I identify as a Drummer/Musician that, reluctantly, has to work a day job to keep from starving!

  8. Wow, that is a seriously deep dive. I'm sure it helps immensely when learning a song. Great work.
  9. Nice. Adding that to my list. Thanks.
  10. Parallel Lines I wasn't sure what genre to put this under since the album is a collection of a few. Also, if you have access to it, check out Blondie's New York. It's a great documentary about the making of the album.
  11. Thought this fit well here!
  12. Played with Earth, Wind, & Fire along with many other greats.
  13. Albums There Is Nothing Left To Lose - Foo Fighters Jagged Little Pill - Alanis Morissette
  14. It's so cool and inspiring to look back at where we started, isn't it? My e-kit is still boxed up in the garage for me to reminisce over.
  15. I believe I'll be searching for better drum beats this easter weekend instead of eggs.

  16. This. But, I agree. This is a great challenge to keep going indefinitely in which ever form is derived by the user. Love this idea.
  17. I wasn't sure if this was an ongoing thing or not. I've been doing it since you started and it's very interesting to see how my practice is affected with the different sticks. I am not near as experienced as some, but I can say some days were better than others. I still love my ProMark Active Grip Sticks. I've only got the Mike Portnoy signature sticks since that was all that was available when I purchased my two pairs. I plan on trying others in the future. Either way, I do love the way these sticks feel in my hands and I've gotten very used to them. My guess is, if I continued on with this challenge, I could get a better feel of what is my best option from the 1/2 dozen pairs I do have. Maybe I'll try again another day. I'll just have to see how my mood is tomorrow for practice.
  18. "Playing fast around the drums is one thing. But to play music, to play with people for others to listen to, that's something else. That's a whole other world."

         -Tony Williams

  19. This has been interesting the last couple days. 2 totally different pairs from what I'm used to. Interesting to see how my playing changes.
