  1. Yeah man, looking for the trash sound with just the perfect amount of decay. China trashes just aren't what I'm after and the fast decay trash effect cymbals decay too fast for what I'm looking for. I will look at the eBay route because I intend to repurpose the cheap hi hats as trash effect cymbals with a longer decay than the fast decay trashes and without the china sound of China trashes.
  2. So I've dug deep looking for paper thin hi hats, looking for my trash solution. But the only thing Mr. Smith returned was expensive hi hats that wouldn't stand up to the abuse they'd receive... search continues. The fast decay trashes have a very similar sound but decay toooo fast.
  3. Back in the day, before Google/Alphabet was in the S&P 500 and before Amazon shopping was mobile, Zildjian only had ZBT, ZHT, A, and K packaged sets...at least available in Savannah at the time. Their combo packs have come a long way in a just over a decade. It's amazing diving into this stuff again. Can't wait to buy a house so I can turn a basement into an amateur studio paradise and start buying cymbals again. Soon enough y'all, soon enough. There may have been a ZXT pack too, trying to remember...long time ago. My memory might be a little hazy from my party days haha. I say all this but I don't have any intention of buying one of those Z box packs in the future (not knocking them, I was a broke kid back in the day... yeah I think I had to layaway my Z box haha). It really is an economical step up from those starter drum set cymbals. Unrelated side note. I also recently found out that Eden doesn't make their Nemesis series of products anymore. I think they discontinued them a few years ago. A little disappointed.
  4. If anyone has any hi hats or other cymbals that came with their beginner drum sets and have since upgraded, I would be interested in taking the cheap set off your hands. I will "repurpose" them so to speak haha.
  5. So I have Vdrums right now, but I'm joining club because I can use cymbal samples with my module and try out all kinds of cymbals before I dive back into the acoustic world. So now I'm on the hunt for great new cymbal samples to create my custom kits! Hmmmm... where to start?
  6. This thread could be cross listed in church drumming. I once used to attend a church that had jam style praise and worship music. That was also a big influence in my love of jam band style music. It's a rarity to find that style of praise and worship music where I live...or even anywhere. So I did some searching a while back and found Deadbones Revival on SoundCloud. I've got a couple of their recordings in this post. Listen to Come Up Jam by Deadbones Revival on #SoundCloud Listen to GP And The Burning Heart The Land 5/17 by Deadbones Revival on #SoundCloud
  7. You'd be surprised at how many people are into jam bands throughout the world. So I figured if I build it, they will come haha. There are so many jam bands out there that I'm not even aware of. Would love to get more exposure to local jam bands from other regions of the country/world. It's a culture of music that definitely flies under the mainstream for sure.
  8. Here's a good starter playlist for those folks who may be unfamiliar with jam bands. This forum thread is open for anyone who might want to share their own jam band playlists of music they listen to.
  9. @Carl No worries man...I wasn't a fan of their Hydrograd album, but I really liked their House of Gold and Bones series as well.
  10. @Carl haha yes! Savatage! Man you don't find too many folks where I am from who even know or remember savatage...Hall of the Mountain King was my introduction to them as a teenager.
  11. Megadeth's "Rude Awakening" and Metallica S&M are two of my favorite live albums...I really do skew towards live music, but keep driving and you will accomplish all of your goals! Listening to Stone Sour's "Audio Secrecy", "Mission Statement", "30/30-150", and "Come whatever may" in that order might get you pumped to accomplish anything. It does for me.🤘 Sorry this made you sad @Carl
