  1. Learning to play drums is fascinating, and I feel like I'm doing well, thanks to Stephan's great course and videos.  If you have seriously studied and play multiple instruments, you might know that some instruments complement how you play other instruments. For example, Being able to play the Bach Partitas or Brahms concerto on violin paid huge benefits to my guitar playing, but not the other way around. I'm finding that learning drums....concentrating on making my feet and hands do something totally new, translates directly to my classical piano playing.

  2. This was recorded in one take, for the film Glengarry Glen Ross, for the end credits. It's mindbogglingly beautiful. Turn it up loud and listen very closely to the drums at the end. Amazing sax solo....not played by Wayne Shorter as credited. Peter comments below the video.
  3. Time is a social construct:-) I saw the James Gang in 75' with Dominic Troiano on guitar. The opened for Edgar Winter Group. One hell of a concert.
  4. My very first musical impulse as a kid was to play drums. Unfortunately my teacher (6th grade) was not inspirational. Decades later, after enjoying many years as a violinist, pianist, and guitarist, it's finally time to learn the fine art of drumming. My favorite drummers are Shelly Manne, Buddy Rich, Tony Williams, Steve Smith, and Dave Weckl, Dave Garibaldi, to name a few.
