  1. Hi! I'm Jennifer Baker, and I am completely new to drumming.  I recently retired and was looking for a way to join my husband, a guitar player, in making music and havine some fun. A cousin, who is a drummer himself, handed me a set of sticks and encouraged me to try a few patterns while we were out camping.  I loved it and was encouraged when he exclaimed "You're a natural!". A few months later I acquired a kit and now really want to move ahead on this journey.

Welcome Jennifer! You have started with the best foot by joining SDS. That's a beautiful kit you have, and with a guitar player at home you'll enjoy the privilege of frequent jamming in no time.

There's a lot of resources here, some of them here on the forums. If you need help with the lessons or questions, don't be shy and drop them here. There's many people who is walking or walked the same path before.

      Hi Juan

Is there a section that will help with the kit set up?

Sure there is! You have this lesson in the Beginner Track 1, it is a bit down the road, but there's no reason to not start with it:

      https://www.stephensdrumshed.com/courses/beginner-track/beginner-module-1/how-to-set-up-your-drum-kit-for-you/

There are also many threads in the forums debating different aspects, from throne height, pedal placement, toms disposition, open playing set up... If you have specific issues, drop a thread in the "Your Struggles" forum, or in the "Gear" one and there will always be someone with a good advice and guidance.
