I hear ya Dieter. Def not my “go to” when just playing. But this is what I was using in the studio this week so I just rolled with it. The snare drum is an experiment I tried out as well. I think it is a cool vibe for the right track. Admittedly – this funk track probably isn’t the right track for it! haha.
Dont’ take me wrong, everything is fine with what you are doing there. In the time i’ve played in studios it whas the same. I’ts all about “time is money”. I’ts easyer to turn a vew switches on the soundboard, then spending hour’s to find the right spot in a well prepared room for authentic sound. In particular for a drum kit which consists of several instruments.
You did a good job for the short recording of a playalong and that works well !
Hi Davis, you know what i really feel is the fact that the vibes of a drum do reach my emotions by listening to it. So if I cut down the vibes by damping it how much will it cut down what i’m able to feel? How comes that a lot of drummers, even pro’s, turn back and scrutching there head when you talk about tuning….?….I’ve being playing for quiet a long time on diffrent stages to diffrent music in my 66 years, taking any chance I can to learn about the soul of different music cultures and they all have there own vibes. So I would say dont block your self for commercial interests, it will cut down your horizons.
But I dont want to run arround here with my pointer finger up!
Sorry, but “dead sounded Drums” are not my thing. The drumming is ok.

This is my ABSOLUTE favorite drum sounds. Dead toms, beefy low snare, dark washy cymbals. Nice job Tim!
So as you all can see…there are birds in any colours and this is what can inspire and makes the world go around.
Yes! I love how every player has their own unique tastes, sounds, and preferences. A world in black and white would be pretty boring ;^)
Yeah, it *is* all about taste. I’m with Joshua. I *love* the sound of these drums!!
Thanks Monica!
I gotta tell ya ive heard the song women in chains ,but was it played with a snare drum in chains?
Ha!
