Reply Sheila Hendrix says: March 7, 2019 at 8:40 pm I have a question. I’m actually taking drum lessons from a place but I’ve watched some of your lessons and would like to take some from you when I’m not at the school. Do you teach beginner lessons? My name is Sheila by the way and I’m 54 years old. I’ve always wanted to play the drums and the keyboards. Reply Stephen says: March 8, 2019 at 3:47 pm Hey Sheila! In short, absolutely. I have TONS of lessons and resources for beginners. There are lesson plans dedicated to just the level that you’re at. Once you sign up, just let me know and I will help you get started on a lesson set that is appropriate for the level that you’re at currently. Reply Ben says: May 16, 2019 at 4:31 pm I’m having trouble with the intro fill before the groove starts. I don’t read sheet music and I can’t tell if the snare strikes on the “and”or the “uh” of two or the three. I’ve just been going by feel and that’s not cutting it with my cover band anymore. Otherwise, thanks for the lesson and the sheet music. I enjoy your YouTube channel and get a lot out of it. Reply Tim B. - SDS Staff Teacher says: May 22, 2019 at 1:14 pm Hey Ben! I know you said you don’t read sheet music, but the fill you are talking about happens in measure 4 (the first full line of the chart labeled “intro”). That fill starts on beat 3 and is a triplet fill (3 notes per beat) and is two snares and a hi hat (3-trip-let) followed on beat four by two snares and an open hi hat (4-trip-let). (3)snare-snare-hi hat (4)snare-snare-open hi hat. Hard to explain via text but hopefully that helps! Reply Troy says: April 11, 2020 at 2:58 pm Thanks ! (I’m keyboard player researching that drum groove) Great insight into the differing takes on kicks too. Reply Tim B. - SDS Staff Teacher says: April 13, 2020 at 1:52 pm Hey Troy!
