  9. LX says:

Great playing and drums sound great. For me though, I’d tune up the 12 just a little bit. Cymbals sound great as well. Never thought of using an EFX as a top high hat. Thanks for all you post!!

Hey Stephen, I’m so happy that you’re now a TAMA artist because I have a HUGE dilemma about the SLP series. I’m trying to decide between the G-bubinga, vintage poplar maple, studio maple, or the G-maple. I was wondering if you could maybe do a shootout with these SLP snares in multiple different styles. I know TAMA has videos on these, but I feel that it didn’t really do the snares Justice. I’m looking for a snare that can sound great with the jazz cats, and also be great with funk, rock, punk etc. Thanks.

Nice set, Stephen! Great sound! It’s nice to see people play from their heart.

  12. Rob Hawkins says:

Sweet looking and sounding kit Stephen. Shame we may not see bubinga as an option for manufacturers for too much longer, it sounds so good.

  13. Bruce Taylor says:

Great sounding drums Stephen! Would you please tell us what Aquarians you are using as batters and resonants.

    • Stephen says:

Sure…Response 2’s on the toms, classic clear on the bottoms, hi-velocity on the snare, Super Stroke 10 kick batter, ebony regluator kick reso

I have the starclassic performer b/b . If i listen to your drum i think a little about an oak shell of yamaha . Maybe it is with the aquarian coated shells. I love the finish and the tone of your drum. Tx for the video. I smiled when you say ” im a little bit introvert, shy” . We don’t know you that way on the youtube channel!!!! Grtz.

  25. John Odom says:

wow great technoque got me thinking that left hand need not be same as right hand but just affected in a differnet musical way, like maybe not as fast but your left hand maybe could be better at technoque than speed…. thanks for this and CHRIST the tiger kit is the best ever bootifuly tuned and played….youre needed

I don’t know if you have a lesson on tuning resonate heads or not but if you do please share. I would assume them to be tuned like the top head I’m not sure. Anyway I’ve always wanted a kit made from bubinga wood but just out of my price range. Great sounding kit though .I am greatfull to you for sharing your amazing skills for the craft.

  30. Pranjal says:

    What’s the price of it???

  31. Cody Johnson says:

That is so awesome!!! I upgraded from my Yamaha stage custom to a star classic all maple!!! Awesome drums!!!

  32. Mark says:

    Hey Stephen,

Love your new kit. I play an older Starclassic kit in birch and I love it for many of the same reasons. Been enjoying your videos and teaching style. Here’s my attempt at one of your earlier “Stanton Moore influenced funk grooves” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Cc0MOX_kjA

Still working on getting some more “stank” into it…Mark

Hey Stephen big fan of your positive attitude towards teaching drums. So happy for you with your Tama drum endorsement . Two years ago I bought a Tama SLP Bubingia snare it is my favorite snare right now. This is my second Tama snare . Been playing a Tama Speed Cobra bass drum pedal. Plus there hardware some the best. Been druming 47 years. I am a drum student I believe that you can learn every day. Love your gig’in stories. I watched your lesson on Drumeo. I Love how most drummers are approachable about the art of drumming. Timekeeper brothers. Keep up your teaching . Thank you . I am a Christian Drummer . Living with multiple myeloma which is a rare blood cancer for the last nine years . People love to see me play. To me it is about being a Team Player, with dynamics and supporting the other instruments or vocals .The Joy of playing to a live crowd. Dig your lessons on rebound and proper stick technique . Love your drum tuning. God Bless my Brother TimeKeeper.
