Great information Stephen. Thank you! I look forward to more lessons like this one, especially a soundproofing lesson. Now if you’ll excuse me, i have some furniture to move!
Hey Stephen how’s it going. Very informative lesson. I recently moved and am now finishing a basement for my studio. Unfortunately I have a low ceiling as most basements do but I’ve got to work with what I have. My question is would it be a good idea to put acoustic foam over as much of the ceiling as possible to try to cancel out reflections from it. Thanks
No, I wouldn’t worry with covering the whole ceiling. I would maybe put a few right above the kit, but other than that you can focus on the walls. If you start recording regularly, you will begin to find where you need to adjust things.
No silly questions in my book! And no, you would only need to do this for an acoustic drum set. The room layout will really affect how the drums sound inside that room.

You bet Brian…love it!

Sounds good, thank you!
This may be a very silly question…do you need to do this for electric drum kits? I am assuming not
