Assembly Line and Testing Criteria

Assembly Line for this Lesson:

Step #1: Learn the groove series with the ostinato without a metronome
Step #2: Learn the groove series with the ostinato using a metronome
Step #3: Add a crash cymbal on the downbeat of every 4 bars
Step #4: Groove for 3 measures, play simple drum fill, crash, back to the groove

Testing Criteria for this Lesson:

Level 1: 50 bpm
Level 2: 65 bpm
Level 3: 90 bpm
Level 4: 100 bpm
Level 5: 110 bpm

NOTE: Be sure to achieve Level 4 tempo for Groove Series A-F before moving on to the next lesson. Groove Series G and H have kick drum patterns that may not allow you to reach certain tempos. That’s ok. The purpose is not speed as I said before, but learning it to that tempo will ensure you have worked the material sufficiently. You should keep reviewing the material after you move on until you reach the Level 5 bpm.
