Ooh, Audioslave Getaway Car! What a good choice! Brad is a good drummer. If your up for another drummer who grooves very well look up some of Soundgardens work by Matt Cameron, his drumming is splendid.

  • Welcome Samuel! This site and group of fellow drummers is very inspiring and fun; you will probably find a lot of ideas looking around! Can’t wait to hear about your progress!

  • I thought I would make a thread almost like a weekly blog for my progress to keep myself accountable and to maybe perhaps influence others and show people how I am evolving and learning. (Side note: It would be cool to have kind of like what has, blog area for members to post their progress In drumming, *cough* Stephen *cough* :P…[Read more]

  • Digging the drumset Richard! Welcome!

  • Don’t you just love drum teachers? They really are a great supporter and motivator / coach. Its good to hear him say that to you, now you will be even better because you will feel confident and therefore your playing will evolve. I remember when I was 15 or 16 and took lessons for a year and my teacher told me: “Man, you need to find a band kid.…[Read more]

  • Marcus I agree with that idea that typically the generation of social media, drummers on youtube, heck even on dating websites people tend to really compare them selves. Sometimes good, or sometimes we can put ourselves down seeing something so crazy drumwise.

Also your idea of using a click in rehearsal, is a good idea. I actually use them on…[Read more]

  • My way of playing creative is just listening to many drummers and mashing together ideas. One drummer I look at is Stewart Copeland, with how he lands his fills. Obviously, you can take basic fills, and instead of hitting a tom roll, maybe do that and do you roll with the cymbals. I know I’m not explaining that properly haha. I love to accent…[Read more]

Good to hear you make progress! I have a love and hate relationship about practice. Sometimes I feel like I’m making progress and sometimes you feel like your not going anywhere. But its all a part of the roller coaster ride of drumming.

  • Its nice to hear a fellow drummer (Marcus) going through the same issues as me. As a drummer and a person through out my life I always had confidence issues, being nervous playing in front of people. I always felt like I sucked at drumming, playing guitar, singing ect. I only started to feel better once people would tell me, “Hey you sound great!”…[Read more]

Okay so I got this a year ago. It is a DW Red 6pc Performance Series drum set, with maple as its choice of wood. I have 8″, 10″, 12″, 14″, 16″, with a 22″ bass drum. I got the red DW wood snare drum separately, 5.5″ by 14″. I use ambassador coated heads, and Evans power stroke head for the bass drum, the front is a Remo custom head I designed and…[Read more]

I just joined Stephen’s drum shed a week ago after doing some research and figuring out what I wanted to achieve drumming wise. I am 25 years old and live in the suburbs of Philadelphia. I’ve been in a few bands and projects with mixed results. I have been drumming since elementary school when my older brother tried drumming in 4th grade, I…[Read more]
