The fact is, I credit most everything I have the opportunity to do now with my drumming to my past drum teachers and mentors. The time and money I poured into my teachers and myself has proven invaluable.
I receive requests weekly for 1-on-1 drum lessons. Fact is, I did them for years and love them. They work. A good student paired with a good teacher? The sky’s the limit! That being said, about 10 years ago, my professional playing and online teaching load eventually made it difficult for me to commit to 1-on-1 drum lessons any longer. However, since that time, I have been looking for a way to incorporate them back into my work. Seeing a student nail a drum fill, complete a lesson, or just smile in satisfaction at a job well done…there’s nothing like that feeling for a teacher. As well, I feel that drumming is a keystone habit that can be used to see a bigger change in our lives. It can be the catalyst for SO MUCH. I have watched students quit destructive habits (smoking, drinking, etc.), improve their marriages, become more physically fit, regain their lost confidence, and so much more. All from committing to learning the drums, being a dedicated student, and doing the work. It doesn’t just make you a better drummer…these changes bleed over into the rest of your life and make you want to improve other areas. Make those areas of your life give you the feeling that drumming does.
